Reportaje a una reporter

This book documents the work of the unknown photographer Alicia Chamorro, pioneer among Colombian photojournalists. Between 1946 and 1958, she worked as a press photographer for newspapers such as El Siglo and El Colombiano, and for magazines such as Cromos. Initially, she covered various events in the southern part of the country, including the presidential tours. From 1950 onward, she settled in Bogotá, where she became the first female member of the Círculo de Reporteros Gráficos. She worked for the radio magazine Ahora and photographed the training of the Batallón Colombia, which in 1951 was sent to the Korean War. During her short professional life, she was widely recognized as the only female photojournalist in Colombia.

Este libro documenta el trabajo realizado por la hasta ahora poco conocida fotógrafa nariñense Alicia Chamorro, pionera entre las reporteras gráficas colombianas. Entre 1946 y 1958, fue corresponsal gráfico de periódicos como El Siglo y El Colombiano y de revistas como Cromos. Inicialmente cubrió diferentes eventos en el sur del país, como las giras presidenciales de Alberto Lleras en 1946 y de Mariano Ospina en 1949. Desde 1950, se estableció en Bogotá, donde fue la primera mujer socia del Círculo de Reporteros Gráficos. Trabajó para la radio revista Ahora y fotografió los entrenamientos del Batallón Colombia, que en 1951 fue enviado a la guerra de Corea. En su corta vida profesional fue ampliamente reconocida como la única reportera gráfica del país.
