Julián Barón: O Desengano

“O Desengano” is the first title in a new Alauda Negra collection with a format strictly tied to the photobook. In this publication, Julián Barón (Castelló, 1978) revisits a photographic series taken on the coast of Galicia during the Prestige oil tanker disaster in 2002, twenty years ago. These images evoke the forces and conditions under which Julián Barón’s photographic discourse has been formed, pushing his own visual language into an unprecedented space of formalization—beyond memory as a particular historical subject, and beyond nature itself as a set of beliefs and conventions through which reality is interpreted.
