This three-volume publication accompanies As Within, So Without (Zo Binnen, Zo Buiten) by Inge Meijer, held at the Van Eesterenmuseum in Amsterdam (Dec 2025 to Feb 2026). The exhibition traces the interiors of post-war Dutch living rooms, where plants play a quiet yet defining role, and explores how domestic space and human relationship to nature reflect broader cultural and social developments, from post-war reconstruction to the emancipation movements of the 1960s and 1970s.

For this project, Meijer, internationally known for her research into the relationship between humans and nature, focused on the magazines of Goed Wonen. Together with graphic designer Dongyoung Lee, she drew from the movement’s visual language and its changing ideas around interiors, architecture, design, and the relation between inside and outside.

Bringing this historical context into the present, the publication deepens engagement with the archives of Stichting Goed Wonen (1946–1968) and Stichting Wonen (1968–1988), whose generous stewardship made these visual materials accessible for research and presentation.
