Aves Nocturnas
By Valeria Giraldo Restrepo
Another Bogotá wakes at dusk. Birds descend from the hills and gather to dance. With moonlight and aguardiente, they celebrate the night, love, and the freedom that comes after dark.
Aves Nocturnas is a small-format publication of photographs and parties, shot with 35mm cameras by Valeria Giraldo Restrepo. The images capture nocturnal encounters, fleeting gestures, and the intimacy of nighttime social life. The book is part of a series of playful, carefully made publications printed alongside another book, using what would otherwise have been leftover sheets.
Printed in 2020, this edition is produced in two special spot colors using lithography, with a green iridescent cardstock cover and a compact, tactile design that invites close looking.
