Ana Victoria Jiménez’s Las Tareas de Mercedes is a feminist photographic project documenting domestic labor through intimate portraits of a woman’s hands performing daily tasks. Originating from Cuaderno de Tareas, a proposed feminist agenda, the series highlights the undervalued labor of women, blending activism and art. Jiménez’s images disrupt traditional gender roles, emphasizing the intellectual and emotional labor behind caregiving and household work. This visual essay not only honors domestic labor but also critiques its historical invisibility, urging recognition and justice for women’s contributions in both private and public spheres.
