The Tijuana River flows between the U.S. and México. In Tijuana, the river's proximity to the border makes it both a shelter (for migrants, deportees, and those unhoused) as well as a habitat (for myriad flora and the fauna.) Ana Andrade knows this area intimately, a place referred to as the "bordo," and spent over 4 years documenting the river's dramatic transformation as well as the increasingly endangered livelihoods of all present, people as well as the non-human life forms living in and around it. Andrade's photographs frame this world as a post-apocalyptic dystopia. As many living organisms across the planet are being threatened, Andrade's images compel us to return to an essential question: how do we live, together, in a world without destroying it and ourselves in the process?
